(KNSI) – A woman is headed to prison after burning a man’s house down in Stearns County.
Jamie Lynn Morin was sentenced to 38 months, or just over three years, behind bars on Thursday. The sentence was in line with the agreement that accompanied her guilty plea back in June. Morin was granted credit for five months of time served. She will finish her sentence at the Shakopee women’s prison.
She pled to a charge of 1st-degree arson for an incident that happened on April 6th in Krain Township. She used a propane torch to light laundry on fire in the basement near the base of the stairs in the home of a man she had been staying with. The house was a total loss.
Morin was found walking on a nearby road away from the home. She was picked up by a neighbor driving towards the fire to ensure everyone was safe. She admitted she started the fire to the neighbor and a Stearns County Sheriff’s deputy.
Morin is a North Dakota native.
