(KNSI) – A new restaurant is bringing the taste of the Louisiana Bayou to downtown St. Cloud.

The Boil is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday and will open the Cajun and Creole restaurant at 11:00 a.m. Owner Don Vongdara describes the restaurant’s signature dish. “The most popular items will be crab legs and shrimp. And it comes with corn and potatoes with each pound you order. You pick out your seasoning. We have four different seasonings. Our house-mix is our most popular one. That’s what we call a Louisiana blend. It’s got garlic butter, lemon pepper and a basic Louisiana boil flavor.”

Vongdara spent ten years perfecting his cooking at his family’s restaurant, the Cajun Deli in Brooklyn Park, before opening here. He says the Boil will also be a family affair. “My partner…my wife, she’s going to be the main person doing the front, and I will be doing the cooking. And I have a couple of people to help from the Brooklyn Park store. Another cook and other staff as well.”

They will be open for takeout, dine-in, and pickup Tuesday through Sunday. The restaurant will be closed on Mondays.

The Boil has moved into the former JL Beers location at 801 West St. Germain Street. JL Beers opened in March 2016 and closed in May 2017.
