(KNSI) – The Wright County Attorney is releasing details on the charges he will be filing against the alleged gunman who attacked a clinic in Buffalo on Tuesday.
Attorney Brian Lutes said in a statement he intends to charge 67-year-old Gregory Ulrich with second-degree murder, four counts of attempted first-degree premeditated murder and possession of explosive or incendiary devices. Lutes also says the criminal complaint will detail the events that unfolded on February 9th.
Ulrich is accused of opening fire Tuesday at the Allina Crossroads Clinic in Buffalo just before 11:00 a.m., killing a 37-year-old staff member and wounding four other people. A suspicious package was also allegedly found in the clinic’s lobby, as well as at the Super 8 Motel about a mile away from the shooting.
Of the four injured, three are in critical but stable condition, and one person has been discharged from the hospital.
Ulrich was trespassed from the clinic’s property after a doctor reportedly told investigators Ulrich had talked about carrying out a mass shooting by “shooting, blowing things up, and practicing different scenarios of how to get revenge” against the clinic back in 2018.
Police say they have had numerous contacts with Ulrich dating back to 2003, but did not elaborate on the nature of those contacts.
Charges will likely be filed Thursday.
