(KNSI) — The National Weather Service says there is a chance for severe thunderstorms to pop up Friday afternoon around central Minnesota.
Forecasters say the chances are between 20% and 50%, but anything that does manage to get going “will likely be severe.” The KNSI listening area is in a slight risk category, or two out of five. The timing starts at 2:00 with 15% and goes to 30% between 3:00 and 5:00. The threat then diminishes to 5% by 7:00.
The main risks today are winds and hail.
If you’re traveling, the slight risk area extends northwest of St. Cloud to Otter Tail County over to Duluth and then south along the Minnesota/Iowa/Wisconsin border to Interstate 35.
