(KNSI) — As Grand Funk Railroad rolls into The Ledge Amphitheater on Saturday, the venue is partnering with the Metro Citizens Police Academy to raise money to support citizens and members of local civic and government organizations in learning about public safety and police experiences.

The MCPA is a course offered as an opportunity for people to experience first-hand many areas relevant to policing, especially critical issues relevant to the profession. The classes offered closely parallel the training curriculum that police officer candidates experience.

It is informational only and not meant to train civilians to act in a law enforcement capacity but provides the public with a first-hand learning experience about training, policies, criminal prosecutions, arrest procedures, and general practices over a ten week course.

The program runs weekly every Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., starting September 7th through November 9th, 2023. Registration ends on Monday, August 14th.

At each show this season at The Ledge, they partner with different nonprofits. See the events list by clicking here.
