(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Rox are closing in on a playoff spot after a series sweep over the weekend.
The Rox are four wins away from clinching a birth in the Northwoods League postseason. St. Cloud beat the Bismarck Larks 10-2 on Sunday thanks to starting pitcher Piercen McElyea. He went 7.1 innings and tied a franchise single-game record with 14 strikeouts. The 2023 Great Plains West All-Star has a 2.67 ERA over a team-high 54.0 innings pitched in 2023, with a team-leading 56 strikeouts and a 1.06 WHIP.
The Rox continue the series Monday, August 7th, with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch against the Duluth Huskies.
