(KNSI) – Over 97% of administrative and service faculty staff at seven Minnesota universities have voted to authorize a strike if needed.
The group is being represented by Teamsters Local 320 in contract talks and includes employees at St. Cloud State University. Union members fill roles in several important departments like admissions, counseling, event planning, and financial aid.
The Minnesota State University Association of Administrative and Service Faculty union also covers Bemidji State, Metro State, Minnesota State Mankato, Moorhead State, Southwest Minnesota State, and Winona State. The two sides are under state mediation.
The system has seen significant enrollment declines in recent years. SCSU’s student count was over 18,300 in the fall of 2010. Last year, that number was barely 10,000, or a decline of over 40%.
