(KNSI) — Sauk Rapids-Rice Public Schools says Pleasantview Elementary School has a new Assistant Principal.

The district says there were numerous applications for the position, and after extensive screening, they narrowed the field to three candidates to interview before selecting Brenten Magee as the new hire. The interviews included a tour of the school and sessions with two groups that included representatives from the district and administration, plus Pleasantview Elementary Staff.

According to a press release, Magee feels administrators should “focus on relationship building, providing instructional leadership, analyzing data for informed decision-making, managing organizational tasks, demonstrating cultural competence, and engaging in ongoing professional development. By continually developing and refining these competencies, administrators can successfully lead and manage schools, support student successes, and foster positive and inclusive learning environments.”

Magee is no stranger to the Sauk Rapids-Rice school system. He started as a middle school psych intern before becoming the behavioral interventionist at Talahi Community School in St. Cloud. He was Dean of Students at St. Cloud Tech High School and, most recently, at Burnsville High School.

Pending board approval, Magee will take on his new role starting August 1st.
