(KNSI) — Wild weather Thursday evening left behind shredded gardens and shattered glass as a storm system barreled through central Minnesota.
Weatherology meteorologist Ray Miller says his office received reports of some impressive hail. The storm produced “a great deal of golf ball sized hail up around Freeport and Albany. It marched further to the east, we’ve seen reports of some one inch daimeter hail reported around the St. Joseph area west of Collegeville as well another area where we’ve had some quarter sized hail reported.”
Clear Lake also saw some ping pong ball sized hail by the time the system moved to the east.
Around the Dassel and Cokato area, trees were reported stripped of leaves, and a teen was hurt in the Twin Cities when a tree fell on his car.
A chance for storms exists later Friday, but likely nothing close to what was seen on Thursday.
Here are some of yesterday's notable hail sizes that fell across parts of Central and Southern Minnesota. 2.75" diameter in Belgrade, MN was the largest. Thank you to everyone who provided their reports. #mnwx pic.twitter.com/ViIFTpRS1J
