(KNSI) – Drivers in western Stearns County will need to endure a delay as workers repave a well-traveled road.

Starting Thursday, motorists can expect occasional lane closures as crews start to touch up Highway 55 between Brooten and Belgrade. People trying to get through the area must obey flaggers and follow a pilot car. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is micro-surfacing the road to seal minor cracks, pavement ruts and even out the road.

Work will be done in segments, so expect the work area to change and move. MnDOT expects crews to finish by Wednesday, July 19th, weather permitting.

Officials warn drivers to watch for workers and slow down to posted speed limits. The fine for a work zone violation is $300.
