(KNSI) – The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office Explorers Program is looking to add to its ranks.
Open to people between the ages of 15 and 21, it provides training to guide students and young adults toward a career in law enforcement. The program looks at a range of potential jobs including dispatch, EMS, the jail, and patrol.
Explorers are taught how to defend themselves, make arrests, and write reports. They volunteer at community events throughout the area like Summertime by George and Granite City Days in St. Cloud. The group meets weekly during the school year and then occasionally during summer vacation.
