(KNSI) – Waite Park City Council will have a special meeting Thursday at 7:00 a.m. to consider bids for summer road improvements.

Contractors were required to have their estimates submitted by mid-morning Wednesday, which ended a 30-day window. The special session will allow for construction to start in early July.

The work includes replacing pavement, curb repairs, and installing pedestrian ramps to bring the streets into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. It also covers work in several alleyways, which will feature full reconstruction and adding storm sewers.

Some of the busier stretches that will see work include 3rd Street South from 10th Avenue to 2nd Avenue, running behind Aldi, several car dealerships, Your Home Improvement Store, a Liberty Bank branch, and other popular businesses.

1st Street North from 10th Avenue to 13th Avenue is set to be redone. That’s just west of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a block from El Loro Restaurant and the Ultimate Sports Bar and Grill.
