(KNSI) – Rapids River Days is going with the flow for its 20th year with some classic events and three new ones.

The fun starts in Sauk Rapids on Thursday with Rapids River Days’ first medallion hunt. Festival coordinator Marla Elness told KNSI News how people can get involved. “It starts with clues at 9:00 a.m. Those will be listed on our website and on our Facebook page. And we’ll hopefully have a winner this week if that works out.”

Also joining the festival for the first time is the weekly free summer concert series Rock the Riverside. Thursday’s show is at The Clearing in downtown Sauk Rapids with music starting at 5:30 p.m.

The first day finishes with the classic Miss Sauk Rapids Pageant. Three girls will compete for the crown at the high school beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Friday features a parade with around 90 participants, including 16 marching bands. It will start near Pleasantview Elementary School at 6:00 p.m. and make its way down 6th Avenue to 1st Street South.

Saturday rounds out the three days of festivities with the first Disc Golf Charity Event supporting Tanner’s Team Foundation. The outing is at Mayhew Creek Park. The shotgun start is set for 9:00 a.m.

The fun finishes Saturday with Rapids River Food Fest from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Municipal Park on North Benton Drive. Around 25 vendors will be serving up all kinds of goodies to try. There are also activities for kids.

“We’re very excited and we really invite everyone to come out, have a great time in Sauk Rapids. Get to know all of these events happening. We just love having everyone come and visit,” said Elness.
