(KNSI) — The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to find a missing kayaker.
Just before 4:00 Wednesday afternoon, a 911 call came in from a boater on the Mississippi River to report an overturned kayak, but no one was around. The St. Cloud Fire Department responded and used several boats to visually inspect the water’s surface and shoreline. The St. Cloud Police Department and Stearns County Sheriff’s Office searched the area using drones. The sheriff’s office and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources deployed boats with side scan sonar abilities to search the water, but the missing kayaker was not found.
The man they are looking for is white, 5′ 10″, roughly 200 pounds and approximately 39 years old with short black hair in a crew cut with a full beard that’s reddish in color. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black t-shirt with a subdued tone American flag on the front and put in near the Holiday in Sartell. His destination was Munsinger Gardens.
The male has been identified by law enforcement. That identity is being withheld until all family is aware of the situation.
If any has any information on this missing kayaker, call 320-251-4240.
