(KNSI) — The Minnesota Department of Transportation Tuesday says it is conducting controlled burns along Highway 23.
The burns will be around the Cold Spring area. MnDOT says people may see or smell smoke, but there’s no need to call 911 as trained crews are on-site monitoring. They ask drivers to treat it like a work zone, slow down, and be alert to people walking around and workers near the road.
MnDOT says prescribed fires promote “healthy roadside vegetation and erosion control.”
There are specific guidelines for prescribed burns. Learn more here.
