(KNSI) – Saint Cloud State University Interim Director of Athletics Holly Schreiner is keeping the title on a permanent basis.

The school announced the decision Wednesday, roughly 11 months after Schreiner stepped into the role following the departure of Heather Weems to become commissioner of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.

Schreiner has been in the department for 18 years. She started at SCSU in December 2000 as director of budgeting and sports campus for campus recreation. She joined athletics in 2005.

In Schreiner’s first year as AD, Saint Cloud had 18 All-Americans. Wrestler Nick Novak won an individual national championship. There was success in the classroom as well. Two dozen Huskies won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Award, which is given to senior student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75.

Schreiner was born in Sauk Rapids. She has a bachelor’s and master’s degree from SCSU.
