(KNSI) – The ROCORI Ratcheteers are state robotics champions. Other area teams finished in the top four.
The MSHSL tournament was held on Saturday in conjunction with FIRST Robotics. The qualification round started at 8:30 a.m. inside Williams Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Both the Sartell Sabres and Becker Bulldogs went 6-2 during the preliminary matches. ROCORI trailed just behind at 5-3.
ROCORI separated itself in the playoff round. Becker’s alliance fell 134-117 in Match One. Sartell competed in Match Two, with its alliance dropping a 176-165 decision to the Ratcheteers’ alliance.
Becker and Sartell squared off in Match Four, with the Bulldog’s alliance picking up the 174-159 victory. Becker then fell in Match Five, 185-184.
The results gave the Sabres a fourth place finish. Becker ended in third.
The finals went to a third-match tiebreaker, which was decided 166-153. The winning alliance was made up of the Dassel-Cokato Chargers, Fairmont, and ROCORI.
