(KNSI) – A 49-year-old Willmar man accused of sexually assaulting a minor made his first appearance in court Wednesday morning.
Jose Alejandro Mejia-Bonilla is charged with one felony count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The criminal complaint says Mejia-Bonilla was traveling in a car with a 12-year-old child sometime from late May to early June. The complaint says while the car was traveling near Paynesville, both Mejia-Bonilla and the child were sitting in the second row, and Mejia-Bonilla inappropriately touched the child. During this incident, the complaint says, Mejia-Bonilla was drunk.
Then, at a store in Richmond, Mejia-Bonilla allegedly came up behind the child, pressing his groin onto them, and asked the child if they wanted to have sex and go into the bathroom.
Mejia-Bonilla’s next court date has not yet been set.
