(KNSI) — Get out the golden shovel; St. Cloud has set a new snowfall record.
The light snow that fell on St. Cloud over the last week was enough to push the 2022-2023 snowfall total into first place with 88.2.” The old record was 87.9″ set in 1964-1965.
Other National Weather Service climate sites also set records, including Duluth with 139.7″ as of 7:00 p.m. April 21st. That’s equivalent to the height of an African elephant, two refrigerators or ten bowling pins.
Also, here’s a sad fact. The snowfall records reset on July 1st.
Sometimes thinking about how much snow we have had is a little difficult because what exactly is 12 feet tall? Well, here's a couple items to put our number into perspective. As of the 7 PM observation, Duluth stands at 139.7" for the 2022/2023 winter. pic.twitter.com/GNny0rwrJE
