(KNSI) – Stearns County hazardous waste collections are going on the road, beginning on Saturday, April 29th.
A specialized unit has scheduled 14 events, including five outside of the county, for the spring and summer. Everything starts in Paynesville at the Civic Arena from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. next Saturday. The final collection will be on September 23rd in Kimball.

Items that are accepted include nuisance or unsafe products. The county lists paints, stains, fluorescent bulbs, car seats, pesticides, cleaners, batteries, old ammunition, lead tackle, Christmas lights, sharps, poisons, roofing tar, fuels automotive fluids, sealers, garden chemicals, pool chemicals, adhesives, aerosols, solvents, mothballs, and mercury as examples. All of it can be disposed of at no charge.
Not everything is taken. Bulky items like appliances or furniture, plus automotive waste like antifreeze, motor oil, and tires. Explosives, garbage, and medical waste are also not allowed.
