(KNSI) — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is asking the Legislature to approve fee increases as part of its budget request.
The House Ways and Means Committee passed the DNR’s omnibus funding proposal Wednesday.
Fees for fishing licenses for residents and non-residents would go up, as would watercraft licensing, lifetime angling, spearing, and sporting licenses, species stamp validations, fish house, dark house, and shelter licenses for residents and non-residents.
The cost for an annual state park sticker would go from $35 to $45. A day pass would go from $7 to $10.
The bill asks for $472.8 million in appropriations for the DNR. More funding requests are likely on the horizon as the agency will ask for money to be spent on one time projects such as renovations, repairs and expansions of DNR facilities.
