(KNSI) – The Stearns County Highway Department wants farmers to pay close attention to where they are planting.
Minnesota law lists putting down seedings, plowing, and tilling within a road right of way as a misdemeanor. The right of way includes the driving lanes themselves, along with shoulders and ditches on the roadside, plus intersection corners.
The goal is to prevent crops from blocking the vision of motorists as they grow tall during the summer, causing safety issues. Erosion is another problem that can result.
