(KNSI) – Pack the Porches raises $21,321 in only six hours for Catholic Charities.
On top of the financial contributions, almost 6,250 pounds of food were also collected. Curbside drop-off locations this year were at Pioneer Place on Fifth, St. Cloud Financial Credit Union of Sartell, and St. Cloud Hyundai of Waite Park. Individual donations were matched by Coborn’s up to $10,000.
The Catholic Charities Emergency Services Food Shelf handed out over 1.7 million pounds of food in 2022, up significantly from the year prior. The Pack the Porches event comes at a time of great need and is scheduled for a part of the calendar where donations tend to be sluggish.
Catholic Charities Executive Director Steve Pareja says, “Rising inflation, increasing costs, and the discontinuation of Covid-era programs continue to create challenges and food insecurities right here in our communities.”
This year marked the 13th annual event.
