(KNSI) – A Foley High School student won the Central Minnesota Noon Optimist Club’s essay contest.
Marly Wheeler won a $500 cash prize for her paper based on the theme “Who is an everyday hero who brings out the optimism in you?” The 18-year-old moves onto the district round, where she could win a $2,500 college scholarship.
The optimist club also recognized its 2nd place winner, 18-year-old Lauren Barthelemy, who won a $250 prize. Third place went to Regina Kowski. The 14-year-old from St. Robert Bellarmine Academy won a $150 prize.
