(KNSI) — The United Way of Central Minnesota has chosen its next leader.
Stephen Jones was selected as the next President and Chief Executive Officer of the St. Cloud-based nonprofit. According to officials, Jones stood out for his experience as a superintendent for multiple school districts, including over ten years with Little Falls Community Schools. While there, he got over $1 million to fund a career pathways program, developed a program that increased breakfasts to serve 80% of the student population and successfully led a $25 million bond referendum to renovate the school district.
He was chosen after a nationwide search. The board of directors voted unanimously to hire him with an anticipated mid-March start date. He will succeed Larry Olness, who retired last year.
