(KNSI) – An historic season for the College of Saint Benedict Hockey Team came to an end Saturday in the semifinals of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The squad finished 14-12-1, which matches the program’s best mark ever. The last and only time the Bennies reached 14 wins was the 1999-2000 season. A victory on February 18th against St. Catherine secured the team third place in the MIAC, a record. They finished 11-7 in the conference, also a record for league wins.

On Saturday, the Bennies lost to Augsburg, 4-2. Head Coach Lindsay Macy said, “We had an early lead today but could not sustain that early pace. We worked hard but just fell a little short. I like the promise of this team.” Sami Hackley and Jenna Timm scored for CSB in the game.

The banner campaign came in Macy’s first year at the helm of the program. She previously led another Division III team, Finlandia University in Hancock, Michigan, where she won the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association’s Coach of the Year award last season. Macy played collegiately at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Minnesota State University, Mankato.
