(KNSI) — St. Cloud area Democratic Senator Aric Putnam will hold a listening session next week for constituents to share ideas and concerns about this year’s Legislative session.

The listening session will be in the Bremer Room at the Great River Regional Library in downtown St. Cloud on Thursday, March 2nd.

Putnam’s District 14 includes all or parts of St. Cloud, Waite Park, St. Augusta, St. Joseph, and Minden Township.

Governor Tim Walz has already signed several bills into law, including controversial ones on abortion access, allowing undocumented immigrants to get driver’s licenses and restoring felon voting rights. He has also signed bills to make Juneteenth a state holiday, prevent discrimination based on hairstyles with the CROWN Act, and reform the tax code. The state is also facing a record budget surplus of over $16 billion.

For the first time in 30 years, Democrats hold all three chambers, and Republicans argue they are ramming bills through without listening to compromise.

The listening session begins at 7:00 p.m.
