(KNSI) — A house in Meire Grove was severely damaged after a fire Thursday morning.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says they got the call for the fire at about 12:24 a.m. The homeowner said he woke up to smoke detectors going off and saw smoke coming from the basement. He woke up another person in the house, and they, along with two dogs, made it out unhurt.

Several departments responded to the blaze in the middle of a winter storm and a blizzard warning.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
