(KNSI) — One of the suspects accused of breaking into the St. Cloud Islamic Center in September has pleaded guilty.

According to the criminal complaint, Logan Smith was caught on surveillance cameras breaking a front window before he and Victoria Veliz allegedly defaced two copies of the Koran and other religious items. A piece of paper was found on a desk office with his initials written in blood. Also discovered inside the building were beer cans, cigarette butts, a hotel key card, and marijuana.

Police tracked the two down using the key card. They were arrested in their hotel room the next day. Veliz has a scheduled hearing in March.

Smith was charged with second-degree burglary. He could be sentenced to up to 33 months in prison.

The sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 5th.
