(KNSI) – Spring turkey hunting season is just two months away.
To register for a shoot in the Mille Lacs Wildlife Management Area, applications need to be completed by this Friday. During early season hunts at that location, if you want to bag a turkey you need a license and a permit.
The permits are awarded through a special lottery application. The cost is $4 and then the spring turkey license will set you back an additional $26. The license goes on sale on March 1st.
Mille Lacs is open for the A through C periods. A begins on April 12th, lasting one week until the 18th. B runs from the 19th through the 25th and C is scheduled from April 26th to May 2nd.
A link to register for the permit is here.
If you are hunting outside of Carlos Avery, Mille Lacs or the Whitewater Wildlife Management Areas you do not need a permit. Youth hunters can use archery equipment or a firearm for the entire season. Adults are restricted to the time period they select when they buy their license. If you do not get a turkey in your hunting period, you can go back out during the final session from May 17th through the 31st.
