(KNSI) — Vice President Kamala Harris is visiting New Flyer Thursday to tout its work for clean energy vehicles.
Buddy King with the Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation tells KNSI News having a sitting Vice President visit the area “shows that St. Cloud is bigger than we all thought. It shows us that St. Cloud is doing things in our community that’s gaining national attention. We have the vice president come in to talk about our energy use, and how businesses are utilizing energy and saving emissions and therefore saving our planet. And this is only a portion of the big work that we are doing.”
A company such as New Flyer in St. Cloud King says, “provides opportunities. We are saving our planet; we are providing jobs. New Flyer is one of the biggest employers in our community. They offer great benefits, great talent, and there are opportunities for advancement, and I’m just really excited that we are here to talk about something new as we talk about electrical energy. You talk about emissions and in a community in a climate that we want to be sustainable so that my great great grandkids can enjoy this world the same way I have.”
King, who is Black, says, “it’s an honor to be able to be here, to see the Vice President, the first African American woman to take that national office and for me to be present. It’s historic.”
