(KNSI) – Conservation Officer Trent Seamans is the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ Willard Munger Wetlands Achievement Award winner.

Stationed in Big Lake, Seamans has placed a priority on wetlands enforcement since being hired in 2015. In a release, the agency says his commitment to detail stands out whether the issue has an easy solution or it involves a multi-departmental investigation and the court system.

Colonel Rodmen Smith, who is director of the DNR Enforcement Division, says that Trent was an easy pick. In a press release he says, “The conservation officers who win this award have several things in common: They’re able to prioritize, they’re knowledgeable about complex environmental regulations, they’re professional and they’re extremely thorough.” Smith says Seamans matches that description.

Conservation Officer of the Year is the premier award. It went to Jeremy Woinarowicz, who is based in Thief River Falls in northwestern Minnesota.
