(KNSI) — Minnesota’s Second District Congresswoman Angie Craig is recovering after being attacked in the elevator at her Washington, DC, apartment building Thursday morning.
According to her Chief of Staff, Craig suffered bruising and fought back. The attacker fled the scene.
Craig says she is grateful to the DC Metro police and asks for privacy.
There is little to prove the attack was politically motivated.
Craig was reelected to her seat in 2022 after narrowly defeating challenger Republican Tyler Kistner.
To give you a sense of how strong @AngieCraigMN is, she went straight to the Hill this morning and attended a meeting in the Senate with the Governor and me and several members of our delegation about legislation for the people of her district.
No one messes with Angie. https://t.co/D7TizOeTQ9
