(KNSI) – Area school districts are all making adjustments to deal with this winter’s heavy snowfalls.

ROCORI Interim Superintendent John Thein told the board at Monday’s meeting that the district has used up almost all of its e-learning days already.

“We’re down to one e-day, where you can have learning from home,” he said.

ROCORI can have one additional snow day on top of its e-learning allotment before it needs to make up time.

Board Member Jennifer Bohnsack joked during Monday’s meeting that the group thought it had reserved more than enough e-learning days to compensate for bad weather.

“Five seemed like a lot. I mean when you say five…and then we’re like, ‘Wait a minute.'”

Districts must apply with the state to set its e-learning days before the school year begins.

Sartell Schools Superintendent Jeff Ridlehoover says it is already working on making up a couple of missed instructional days. It added classes to a slated off day in January and will do so again later this month. Ridlehoover says Sartell schedules well above the minimum hours required by the Minnesota Department of Education.

St. Cloud Area Schools says in an email to KNSI it is asking staff to hold June 6th and 7th as potential snow makeup days. They’ll be needed if St. Cloud has more than three snow days for the rest of winter.
