(KNSI) – A Twin Cities man is accused of trying to solicit a teenage girl online for sex, but it turned out he was talking to an undercover cop.
Randy Todd Micke has been charged with soliciting a child for sex and engage in electronic communications relating to or describing sexual conduct with a child.
In August of 2022, an investigator with the Central Minnesota Human Trafficking Task Force posed as a 14-year-old girl and responded to a post allegedly put up by the Inver Grove Heights man titled “Older for younger; seeking friendship and fun.”
The undercover cop identified herself as being 14 and asked the 58-year-old man what he was looking for. According to the criminal complaint, Micke asked the undercover for provocative pictures, talked to her about having sex, sent her a pornographic link and getting together in person. Police say he messaged the fake teen’s account numerous times for months. Investigators say they have more than 182 screenshots of messages sent by Micke.
On January 12th, police executed a search warrant at Micke’s apartment and arrested him. He admitted to talking with a 14-year-old but said he didn’t believe she was that young based on their conversations. He denied ever trying to meet up with the girl.
He is being held on an $80,000 bond.
