(KNSI) – Five fire departments helped put out a massive fire in Brockway Township on Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called around 12:45 to the 43000 block of 85th Street after the owner saw smoke coming from one of the doors and called 911.

The St. Stephen Fire Department was first on the scene and found the 350-foot barn fully engulfed. The Avon, Holdingford, Rice and Sartell Fire Departments also responded. It took crews around three and a half hours to contain the fire and let it burn out. Parts of the building had to be torn down.

The barn hadn’t been used to house chickens for at least five years. Some equipment and other miscellaneous items were stored inside. The building is considered a total loss.
