(KNSI) — A 35-year-old St. Cloud man is jailed for suspected shoplifting and fleeing police.
According to Sartell police, they were notified about 4:00 Thursday afternoon of a shoplifting in progress at the Sartell Walmart. When officers arrived, loss prevention told them the suspect left with unpaid merchandise, got into a car and drove off. Police say the suspect, Brandon Weeda, also had felony warrants for his arrest.
Officers found a vehicle matching the description given by Walmart employees a short time later, and police tried to conduct a traffic stop. They say the driver fled onto County Road 1 in Sartell and into St. Cloud on 9th Avenue North. They used a PIT maneuver and stopped the car. The driver then fled on foot but was arrested a short time later.
No one was hurt. Weeda is now facing additional charges of fleeing police, theft and driving after revocation.
