(KNSI) — St. Cloud Tech High School is holding its first robotics tournament this weekend.
St. Cloud Tiger Robotics will host 81 teams from across the state to compete in the all-day competition on Saturday. The tournament is open to the public and is free to attend. Robots will take to the arena at 9:30 a.m., with the final rounds beginning at 3:00 p.m. The tournament will be the first hosted at the school since it was built in 2018.
Each year, students are presented with a new challenge. They build a robot from the ground up to compete. This year’s challenge is titled VRC Spin-Up and looks much like robot-based disc golf.
The VEX Robotics program is a national organization allowing student teams to engineer solutions using technology, engineering, math, art, and communications.
