(KNSI) — A 26-year-old Sauk Rapids man was jailed in Florida after allegedly breaking into what he thought was his Airbnb and taking a bath.
At about 7:15 Christmas morning, Cape Coral police were called to the home for a trespasser. They had already been there once for another call of a man holding a rock, yelling to be let in and banging on the front door. When police arrived, they found shattered glass but no sign of an intruder. They were called back to the home when someone heard noises coming from the second floor.
There, police said they found Levi Sholing in the tub in the master bathroom. He got dressed and was escorted out of the house.
Sholing allegedly told police he and his brother were out partying downtown Fort Myers on Christmas Eve, and he took an Uber back to the house they were renting. He said he was drunk and became separated from his brother after getting out of the car. When no one answered the door, he said he smashed the glass, went inside and got into the bathtub. He said he wasn’t there to hurt anyone or commit a crime and honestly thought it was the Airbnb they had rented. Police found the Sholings family and the Airbnb where they were staying one street over.
Sholing was charged with trespassing and criminal mischief.
