(KNSI) — Family members have identified the man found shot to death in a St. Paul alley just before midnight Wednesday.

Tara Becker says her son, 22-year-old Alex Becker, was murdered while on his way home from work.

A GoFundMe set up to help the family with funeral expenses says he was robbed and shot “only a few feet from his door.” Family members say Becker had a gentle spirit and loved playing video games with his younger brothers, watching movies with his sister and would help his friends and parents in any way he could. His mother says he would have handed over what he had, and there was no reason to shoot him.

No one has been arrested, but possible suspects were allegedly seen leaving in a black sedan. Anyone with information is asked to contact St. Paul police at 651-266-5650.

This is St. Paul’s 40th homicide of the year, which sets a new record.
