(KNSI) – The St. Paul Police Department released bodycam and dashcam footage from an officer-involved shooting Monday evening.
Per police radio traffic prior to the shooting, they were called to the area for a domestic assault that had just happened.
Footage shows an officer telling dispatch he sees a man who looks like the suspect, identified by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension as Howard Johnson, walking and that he is armed and trying to carjack a vehicle as he speeds up to intercept.
Still frames are also attached to the YouTube video showing Johnson pointing a gun behind him with a flash near the muzzle.

Police have said Johnson and the officer appear to exchange gunfire. Dashcam footage from an officer nearby picks up what sounds like one gunshot before more shots can be heard. Investigators say three shell casings and a handgun were found near Johnson’s body.
Johnson was taken to Regions Hospital, where he died.
The officer is on standard administrative leave.
