(KNSI) – St. Cloud is holding a summit next month to help develop a vision to revitalize downtown.
Mayor Dave Kleis says it is part of his plans to bring more people downtown to live. “I proposed, when we talked before about adding 1,000 market rate housing units. That’s part of it but, this will be more of a vision. We’ve had a lot of drawings [and there are] a lot of things we’re doing.”
The meeting will be held Monday, December 12th, at 5:30 p.m. at the River’s Edge Convention Center. There will be a ninety-minute presentation.
Kleis talked about what he hopes will happen after the meeting. “That will lead to a group that will be put together to put some action into plans that you’ve seen, you’ve approved over time. But to really focus on the walkability and to focus on our action step for the downtown revitalization.”
A separate group will meet on November 29th to discuss a vision for redeveloping St. Cloud’s eastside.
