(KNSI) – Leighton Broadcasting honored the Best of Local High School Sports again this fall.
There were a variety of winners but Sauk Rapids-Rice High School came out on top more than anyone else. The Storm won best mascot and got the nod with Sartell for the top area rivalry. The Storm’s student section was recognized along with Philip Klaphake, the leader of the football team was named favorite coach.
ROCORI’s 2019 football team was awarded the title of best state championship team. Royalton honoring its football coach who was injured in a car accident over the summer won best sports moment. The Upsala/Swanville Patriots have the top home field advantage.
Matt Weletzko is the favorite famous local sports celebrity and the most scrumptious food item to snack on at a game is popcorn.
Station representatives recently visited each winning school to award their athletic departments their prizes.
