High School Football

Class AAAA

ROCORI 22, North Branch 12: It was a game dictated by North Branch’s run-heavy offense early on. They controlled the ball and kept ROCORI’s high-powered offense from getting into a rhythm. At halftime, the Spartans managed to eke out a small 6-0 lead thanks to a first quarter trick play. Will Steil found Adam Langer for a 52-yard touchdown pass.

North Branch and ROCORI traded scores in the third quarter. The Spartan points came on an eight-yard completion from quarterback Jack Spanier to wideout Hunter Nistler. After the Vikings got it to 14-12, Spanier once again went to the air successfully. He teamed up with Sebastian Novak for a 55-yard score in the fourth.

Both second half touchdowns for ROCORI saw successful two-point conversions afterward.

ROCORI will play Simley at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, November 17th at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Class AAA

New London-Spicer 18, Milaca 14: The Wildcats topple the Wolves for a second time this year by one score. The two defeats are the only losses of the season for Milaca.

Milaca came roaring out of the gate. They led 14-0 with 9:22 left in the second quarter thanks to two Jack Schoenborn runs. He scampered into the end zone from 68 yards and two yards respectively. New London-Spicer won the “middle eight” though in a big way. Gabe Rohman and Mason Delzer caught touchdown passes on either end of halftime and all of a sudden it was 14-12.

New London got the only score of the fourth quarter, a 60-yard bomb from quarterback Blake Schultz to Grant Paffrath.
