(KNSI) – The Granite City Train Show will have more locomotives and displays than ever before.

Granite City Train Show

Organizer Dr. Ed Olson talked about why the show’s popularity is growing. “I just think that more people in the hobby are aware of the show. And, word gets around because we have a lot of vendors that say, you know, we really look forward to your show. There’s just something special about it. We try to make it a fun, family-oriented type event and also something that satisfies the urge in all of us train nerds as well.”

Olson says the vendors and hobbyists are great resources to learn more about model and toy trains. “We’d love to share the joy of the hobby and if you’ve never been into trains before, it can be just a fun day out with the kids, grandkids, or your spouse, whatever.”

Kids can help build a wooden train layout and run a model train. Visitors can see trains of all different sizes and find train accessories, books, videos, railroad collectibles and memorabilia, antique toys, hobby items and more. Everyone that shows up can register to win a free Lionel Train set.

The Show is Saturday, November 5th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the River’s Edge Convention Center in downtown St. Cloud. Tickets are $6 for adults, and children ten and under are free.
