(KNSI) – A planned unit development agreement for a potential new southside veterinary hospital will be debated at Monday’s St. Cloud City Council meeting.
The proposal originally went before the planning commission in September but was tabled after several questions were raised by area residents. A revamped presentation says the facility will be limited to having business hours between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on weekdays only. Small pets can be served at the site and it cannot act as a kennel, but animals are allowed to stay overnight related to treatment. Daycare amenities would be present, including an outdoor play area.
Another issue that drew questions was about the building itself and whether it would disrupt the quiet, residential nature of the surrounding community. Outside signage has been reduced to an area of 50 square feet and exterior lighting can not extend any higher than 14 feet above the ground.
The hospital would be located at 3305 Cooper Avenue South. The planning commission accepted the new restrictions on the site at a meeting earlier this month by a 4-0 vote.
