(KNSI) – The Association of Minnesota Emergency Managers has honored Stearns County’s Kristen Tschida with its President’s Award.

Tschida says the distinction is aptly named. It is handed out at the discretion of AMEM’s president, who this year hails from Lac Qui Parle County.

“That specific award is selected by the association’s president for the year. So, that person really has carte blanche to choose whoever they want in whatever fashion they feel like that person has contributed to both the association and then emergency management on a statewide front.”

Tschida serves as the organization’s Professional Development Committee chair, responsible for the Peer Support Network.

“It was the Mentor-Mentee Program and it has since shifted, especially after the COVID response to more of a peer support network style. So, that also is a bi-monthly virtual networking session.”

Tschida says she has been the chair of the committee since 2019. It also oversees logistics to help arrange disaster exercises and regional training.
