(KNSI) – A local bank and radio station are holding their first Coats For Kids Drive on Saturday.
Stearns Bank and KNSI sister station 99.9 Lite FM will be collecting coats and other warm clothing from 9:00 a.m. to noon on October 8th at the Stearns Bank location on 2nd Street South in St. Cloud.
Amos from LITE FM will be there and says the program is aimed at helping families struggling to afford a new coat because “we know that money is tight for families these days and we want to help those families that are having trouble keeping their kids warm.”
Amos is a dad and says most families can find gently used winter gear that has more life left in it.
“Every fall you go through their stuff and there’s a whole bunch of stuff that hasn’t been worn. You’re going to find things in your closet that you’re like ‘oh my gosh we never use these snowpants,’ you know, and that’s the kind of stuff that we’re looking for.”
Donations can include gently used kids’ coats, hats, boots, scarves, snow pants and gloves. The items collected will benefit St. Cloud Area School District.
Drop boxes are also available all month long at Stearns Bank and Leighton broadcasting’s studios in the Radio City Music Mall in downtown St. Cloud.
