(KNSI) — Have a drink and learn about the history of beer and cider in Stearns County during the second annual Hops and History at the Stearns History Museum on October 1st.
The event features beverages from Beaver Island Brewing Company in St. Cloud, Milk and Honey Ciders in St. Joseph, Pantown Brewing Company in St. Cloud and Third Street Brewhouse in Cold Spring. Museum Development Director Amy Degerstrom says they wanted a way for people to get a taste of history.
“We decided, wouldn’t it be fun to gather all of the breweries in one place and have a mini Oktoberfest, but with the twist that the actual brewers come to the museum so when you come to sample their drinks, you can also talk to them.”
She says the event is about getting up close with the area’s beer and cider makers.
“Our angle is that you get to actually learn about the process of brewing. I think that’s pretty fun. And that’s not something that you get it all the other Oktoberfests.”
Hops and History will be held on the Stearns History Museum Plaza and is limited to 150 people. Tickets cost $25 and can be purchased online or at the door. About half the tickets are sold. Drinks will be served from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The first 75 in attendance will get a free Bavarian pretzel.
