(KNSI) – A local radio station and bank have teamed up to help keep kids warm this winter. Stearns Bank and 99.9 Lite FM in St. Cloud are holding their first coat drive together.
The Coats For Kids Drive will benefit St. Cloud Area School District. 99.9 Lite FM‘s Amos is a father and says the program will help families struggling to afford a new coat.
“And we know that money is tight for families these days and we want to help those families that are having trouble keeping their kids warm.”
He says most families can find gently used winter gear that has more life left in it.
“Every fall you go through their stuff and there’s a whole bunch of stuff that hasn’t been worn. You’re going to find things in your closet that you’re like ‘oh my gosh we never use these snowpants,’ you know, and that’s the kind of stuff that we’re looking for.”
He says they are looking for new or gently used kids’ coats, hats, boots, scarves, snow pants and gloves.
Drop boxes have been set up at Leighton broadcasting’s studios in the Radio City Music Mall in downtown St. Cloud and at Stearns Bank in St. Cloud.
On Saturday, October 8th, 99.9 Lite FM and Stearn’s Bank will team up for an event at the bank where the public will be invited to drop off some gear and enjoy some hot chocolate. The drop boxes will be available at the bank and radio stations through October.
